Born in Annecy in 1976, he studied Philosophy, Political science and Linguistic and has been living in Sweden since 2008. Over the years he has been working in the United States, Italy, Germany and in Luxembourg at the European Parliament. In Sweden, he worked both at the French Embassy and the French Institute. Since 2008, he is an associate researcher at the Centre Emile Durkheim in Bordeaux with reasearches conducted on participatory democracy, lifelong learning and language policies in Europe.
Christophe Premat is a member of the French Parliament, representing the French nationals living in Northern Europe i.e Iceland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. At the National Assembly, he is a member of the Cultural Affairs and Education Committee. He is particularly interested in the matters related to the French speaking world, bilingualism, environmental affairs and the political representation of the Diasporas.
